I find that far too many Christians not only recall past sin, pain, and hurt, but also drag that experience into their everyday life. My heart breaks for them as they speak of their past sins and painful memories. I have listened to stories that left me in tears. But my heart also breaks for their inability to move forward.

This brings us back to the differentiation between then and now. Look at the man who, at fifty years old, speaks of a child who suffered under the cruelty of an alcoholic father then, and also speaks of the pain he is still experiencing now. These stories are everywhere. I have listened to these and similar accounts for years. So often, the fifty-year-old still feels like that child who suffered greatly, frozen in time. His perceived value in Christ is tarnished by memories of the past. Unable to fully move forward and leave the past where it belongs, his life in Christ is hindered by the whispers of Satan, saying: “You’re no good. You are not worth of love. You will never amount to anything.”

Time fixes almost nothing. Time simply allows folks to hide things better, to shove things further down. It is what one does with time that makes the difference. This book will demonstrate how time with Christ can pull you from the defining painful moments of yesterday and move you into the joy of the Lord today.

I am in no way suggesting downplaying or discounting someone’s memories and pain. But that’s not the identity Christ has given to his children. This book will help you discover how understanding your value allows healing to transcend time, covering the entirety of your life, not just present healing.
